Community update:  3/11/2022

Our commitment is to always keep you informed of what is happening at the community—especially as it relates to the current environment with Coronavirus. As of today, all residents and staff are COVID free. This means those individuals previously reported have cleared quarantine protocols.

Since March of 2020 when tracking started, 231 residents and employees have tested positive for COVID-19. Our cumulative totals as of today, March 11 are as follows: 78 residents in skilled nursing and 103 employees have tested positive for COVID-19. A total of 26 assisted living residents have tested positive and 24 residential living residents have tested positive. Sadly, a total of 20 residents have passed away.

We remain in close contact with local and state health departments and continue to monitor all residents and employees who may exhibit any symptoms consistent with COVID-19 and, if necessary, ask that they reach out to their personal physicians for medical advice.

Our infection control protocols follow guidance from CDPH, along with the CMS and CDC which include:

  • Testing of all residents and employees within healthcare.
  • Individuals presenting COVID-19-like symptoms are immediately isolated and we follow CDC and local and state health department guidelines when caring for those with COVID-19.
  • For residents with confirmed COVID-19 cases, all efforts will be made to provide a private room with private bathroom.
  • We have primary care employees dedicated to each resident. If we have multiple residents with COVID-19 or COVID-19 like symptoms, we attempt to ensure the same nurse and CNA is assigned to all COVID-19 patients.
  • All employees wear masks and those caring for COVID-19 patients wear full personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure their safety and to prevent the spread of the virus to others.
  • All resident rooms are disinfected twice daily and there are enhanced cleanings in all common areas within the health center.
  • All employees have been trained in proper PPE usage, as well as proper infection control measures.
  • Employee and contractor screenings continue to be required with daily health assessments and temperature screening.
  • COVID-19 Task Force at our community and at our Central Office are maintaining close contact with local and state health authorities, the CMS and CDC for the latest information regarding guidelines and protocols for infection control.

Our infection control protocols follow guidance from CDPH, along with the CMS and CDC which include:

  • Testing of all residents and employees within healthcare.

  • All employees wear masks and those caring for COVID-19 patients wear full personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure their safety and to prevent the spread of the virus to others.
  • All resident rooms are disinfected twice daily and there are enhanced cleanings in all common areas within the health center.

Community Update:  10/30/2020

Our commitment is to always keep you informed of what is happening at the community—especially as it relates to the current environment with Coronavirus.

Since March of this year when tracking started, our cumulative totals as of today, October 30 are as follows: Three residents in skilled nursing and seven healthcare employees have tested positive for COVID-19. All seven of the employees have completely recovered and have returned to work. Another round of testing of staff and residents in healthcare in this week’s cycle has been negative. A total of seven residential living residents tested positive and thankfully all have now cleared quarantine status (based on date of confirmation, exposure and/or symptoms).

Update:  4/7/2020

Covenant Living at Mount Miguel learned on Monday, April 6, that a healthcare employee in Assisted Living has been diagnosed positive with COVID-19 and is at home in self-isolation. This individual has not been on our campus since March 30. At this time, you should know, that no residents or employees are exhibiting any symptoms that are consistent with the COVID-19 virus.

This is the second confirmed case at Covenant Living at Mount Miguel. The first individual we reported back in mid-March has since recovered. As a result of this new case, we have been in touch with our local and state health authorities and are working closely with them for additional guidance, in addition to already following strict infection control protocols. As a reminder, within all high levels of care employees use PPE, when isolation is necessary and we are carrying out disinfection and cleaning within all of the healthcare center.

We continue to follow all of our rigorous safety and infection-control protocols that are in place to help in preventing any spread of the virus to our residents and employees. Also, our visitor restrictions and screening protocols for everyone coming to our campus are in place to mitigate the risk of this virus spreading.

Update 3/12/2020

We remain committed to sharing information with you regarding the COVID-19 Coronavirus situation and all of the precautionary measures enacted to prevent any spread of the virus at our community.

We did learn today that one of our health care employees, not involved in direct care of residents, has tested positive and diagnosed with COVID-19. This individual is now recovering and in quarantine at home.  As an additional precaution for residents and staff, all individuals who had contact with this employee within 6 ft. in distance have been sent home for the next 14 days to self-isolate. It should be noted that as of now, none of these other employees are experiencing any symptoms.

This is the first and only confirmed case at Covenant Living at Mount Miguel.  As a result, this case has been reported to local and state health departments and we are working very closely with them.

Be assured that we will continue to follow all our rigorous safety and infection-control protocols that are in place to help in preventing any spread of the virus to our residents and employees.  Also, additional screening protocols for all employees in healthcare are being implemented which can include temperature taking in order to mitigate the risk of this virus spreading.

Please pray for those impacted by the Coronavirus and know that together we will meet this challenge and move forward with an even stronger community

Update: 3/10/2020

Covenant Living Communities and Services continues to stay on top of the latest regarding the situation with the coronavirus (COVID-19) across the nation and in our local communities. To date, none of our communities have been directly impacted.

However, due to concerns regarding the spread of coronavirus and in order to maintain a healthy community, we respectfully discourage all non-essential visits to our community. This request is for all individuals—including family members—as a preventive measure and precautionary step to protect our residents and staff until further notice.

Covenant Living is already following strict protocols and guidelines established by the Centers for Disease Control and local and state health departments. Our emergency response plans include everything from infectious control protocols, ensuring our health care employees providing care have adequate supplies to contingencies regarding dining services and activities, if necessary. In addition, we are reinforcing regular and thorough hand washing as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and telling any employee who is sick to stay home.

It is important we all remain vigilant and pay close attention to our own health and places we visit, in particular if any resident, employee or visitor has recently returned from travel overseas or has any signs of illness.

We pray for those impacted by the coronavirus in our country and for the safety of our residents, employees and their families. Together with your vigilance, along with planning and preparedness, we can maintain a safe and health community in which we live and work.

Update: 3/4/2020

The safety of our residents, employees and visitors is a top priority and it is important that we remain vigilant in protecting our residents and staff to maintain a healthy community.

Covenant Living Communities and Services is paying extremely close attention to the coronavirus situation in our country and on the local level at each of our communities. We have assembled a task force to monitor this situation, remain educated on the latest information from health officials, and implement any plans we have in place that may become necessary to ensure the health and safety of all of our residents, employees, family members and visitors. Our Central Office has a readiness plan for any potential COVID-19 outbreaks, in addition to our already established emergency response plans.

Our emergency response plans are developed following strict guidelines as recommended by local, state and national health officials. Those plans include everything from infectious control protocols, ensuring our health care employees providing care have adequate supplies to contingencies regarding dining services and activities, if necessary. In addition, we are reinforcing regular hand washing as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and telling any employee who is sick to stay home.

It is important we all remain vigilant and pay close attention to our own health and places we visit, in particular if any resident, employee or visitor has recently returned from travel overseas.

We pray the Coronavirus situation across the world and here at home is short-lived and that the residents, employees, and their families of Covenant Living remain untouched. Together with your vigilance, along with our planning and preparedness, it will guide us to maintain a safe and healthy community in which we live and work.
